Chapter 166: Miss Me?
Upon hearing Cai Jingyi’s words, Su Bingyou frowned unhappily.
“You believe in such things?”
“It’s safer to believe than not to! This prediction was from the abbot of Lingxi Monastery, and indeed he was right! A hidden phoenix in the forest has a nest that’s hard to return to… and her life is full of trouble. Evildoers try to harm her… everything is right about Qianrou. She’s obviously the daughter of the Shen family, but she grew up elsewhere. She has experienced so much and gone through ordeals over the years. And Fanxing, she’s obviously that evildoer… More importantly, wasn’t Qianrou brought back to the Shen family? Born with a phoenix’s fate and is blessed in life. Have you thought about how much glory Qianrou will bring to the Su family?”
Su Bingyou narrowed his eyes silently but didn’t say a word.
After he pondered, his wife made sense.
As a businessman, he would tend to believe in fate and destiny.
Just like how the Shen family had believed that!
And at that moment, no one ever mentioned again, or even thought of—
When the Su family nearly went bankrupt back then, who was the one who supported and helped them without asking for anything in return…
—
Shen Fanxing returned to Palace of Luxury and collapsed on the sofa, completely exhausted.
She forced herself not to think of every face and word she had heard tonight. But that was how humans functioned.
The more she wanted to escape, the more disgusted she felt. And it would always influence your mood and emotions easily.
She sighed and pressed her palm on her forehead as silence crashed around her.
She didn’t know what sins she had committed in her previous life, or what she had owed them!
They were all out to collect debts from her!
Some time later, she jerked abruptly and raised her head. Her eyes glinted with coldness.
She took out her phone from her bag and made a call.
The call went through within a few seconds and Shen Fanxing’s cold voice sounded,
“How’s the investigation going? Okay, send it to me now!”
Not long after Shen Fanxing ended the call, her phone rang again.
Looking at the screen, Shen Fanxing’s tensed face softened.
She tapped lightly on the screen.
Bo Jinchuan’s handsome face appeared and was clearly displayed on the screen.
“You haven’t rested?”
Shen Fanxing managed a tiny smile as she huddled on the sofa and looked at him.
Bo Jinchuan stared at her face for a moment before his low and clear voice sounded.
“What happened?”
Shen Fanxing paused and asked, “Huh?”
Bo Jinchuan was also sitting on the sofa, his dark orbs fixated on her.
“You don’t look happy.”
Shen Fanxing smiled and shook her head, and her expression grew softer. Her voice was gentle and clear.
“Nothing much. I’ve been adjusting to my new job recently, and I’m still trying to get used to it.”
Bo Jinchuan smiled before turning his head slightly. He bent to pick up the cup on the table and took a sip.
As he drank, the dark glint in his eyes was hidden.
He said casually,
“Don’t be too demanding on yourself at work.”
Shen Fanxing nodded and replied, “Okay.” She paused to look at him before asking,
“How about you? How’s work?”
“It’s fine.”
“When are you coming back?”
Bo Jinchuan held onto the cup as a warm smile spread across his good-looking face and even his eyes which was the color of ink.
“Miss me?”
Shen Fanxing stared at his face in a trance.
His eyebrows were thick and dark, and he looked scholarly and beautiful.
