Chapter 126: Mock Exams (3)
Ye Tianxin looked at Li Xiaohui and replied, “This year’s enrollment window for the Film Academy and Drama Academy has already closed. You could take the entrance examinations next year if you’re really keen to study there.”
“Next year?” Li Xiaohui groaned and seemed rather upset.
Ye Tianxin then reminded, “Besides, the tuition fee for the Film Academy is quite high. In terms of job prospects, you could only work in the entertainment industry. Every year, many people enter the capital’s entertainment industry, so it will be hard to get ahead of others. You’ll have to work hard and be willing to put up with hardships. Could you do that?”
“Could I enter the entertainment industry if I didn’t go to college?” Xiaohui asked.
“Yes, there are almost no restrictions to entry. But if you want to become an actress, you’ll have to rely on your network. If you’re a high school graduate, you might only be able to help the crew members with errands. However, if you were to graduate from a Film Academy or Drama Academy, your seniors could guide you. They might even recommend you for minor roles,” Ye Tianxin explained.
Li Xiaohui stared at Ye Tianxin with admiration and exclaimed, “Wow, Tianxin, you’re really well-informed!”
“I went to search it up since I was interested in the Film Academy,” Ye Tianxin lied.
‘There’s no way I can let Li Xiaohui know that I’ve already signed a contract for a movie and will start filming soon...,’ she thought.
“I’ll think about what I want to do in the future then,” Li Xiaohui decided, and she was worried by the thought of how the college examinations would mark a turning point in her life.
In the subsequent tests, Li Xiaohui felt more upset for many of the questions that had appeared in the papers had been explained by their teacher before, and yet she was clueless as to how to answer them. It was as if her brain had turned into mush.
On the other hand, Ye Tianxin was completely relaxed and didn’t seem to have any difficulties with the questions in the exams.
After their final paper, Ye Youran walked up to Ye Tianxin and reminded her, “Ye Tianxin, I think you should learn the rabbit dance. If not, it will be so embarrassing if you can’t dance well, don’t you agree?”
Ye Tianxin felt like rolling her eyes at Ye Youran’s confidence but she replied calmly, “Thanks, but you don’t need to worry about me. I just hope that no one would have to eat her words when the exam results are released.”
“Right back at you!” Ye Youran snorted before she grabbed her bag and left.
Ye Tianxin, too, took her bag and prepared to go home. She didn’t come home last night. Thus, she was really worried about her grandmother.
Thankfully, under the care of Jing Zhichen and the caretaker, Ye Tianxin’s grandmother was fine. Her complexion also seemed much better than before since they returned to Jiameng Town.
However, her grandmother’s hair was yet to grow, and she also looked gaunt, as it would take time for the side effects of chemotherapy to subside.
When Ye Tianxin arrived home, her grandmother was with Jing Zhichen and they were talking under the pear tree in the yard.
“Tianxin, you’re back!” Grandmother greeted her.
Jing Zhichen then walked over to help her out with her schoolbag. He noticed how heavy it was.
“Brother Jing,” Ye Tianxin greeted.
“The cherries in Jiameng Town are so sweet,” he remarked.
Jing Zhichen had come at the right season when the cherries were abundant. These cherries were difficult to store, for their was were thin and easily bruised. Thus, this was the first time that Jing Zhichen had eaten such fresh ones.
There was a cherry tree in the backyard of Ye Tianxin’s house, and it had tiny, juicy cherries, peppered all over the branches.
“Have some more if you like!” Ye Tianxin urged. “If you don’t eat them, they’ll go to waste when they fall and rot.”
Jing Zhichen felt bad at the thought of how these delicious cherries being wasted once they were bruised and rotten.
“Later on, there’ll be a large supply of cherries in the market. I’ll make you some cherry wine then,” Ye Tianxin offered.
