Playing Dumb
When she heard Shen Jia’s words, Mo Rao’s gaze turned completely cold.
“Shen Jia, I’m not like you. I’ve relied on myself all the way until now. I’ve never relied on anyone else!”
Shen Jia sneered, as if she had heard something funny. Her eyes were filled with disdain. “Mo Rao, who doesn’t know that you rely on men?! Don’t play dumb!”
Mo Rao looked at Shen Jia coldly. “What right does a person who only knows how to steal other people’s work have to say such things?!”
“I already said that I didn’t!” Shen Jia retorted.
Mo Rao sneered and was about to say something when a middle-aged man called Shen Jia’s name not far away.
Shen Jia looked over. When she saw that it was Shen Ke, her anger instantly subsided.
Previously, because of this, Shen Ke felt that she had been too anxious and had taught her a lesson. Now that Shen Ke saw her arguing with Mo Rao because of this, Shen Jia was worried that Shen Ke would blame her again. At that time, wouldn’t her position in Shen Ke’s heart be the same as that of her useless brother?
“I don’t have the time to argue with you. Mo Rao, just wait and watch me get together with Fu Ying!” Shen Jia snorted and turned to leave.
For some reason, when Mo Rao heard this, the first thing she thought of was the rumor about Fu Ying and Shen Jia.
Actually, during this period of time, rumors about Fu Ying and Shen Jia had been all over the place, but Mo Rao had never had the time to pay attention to it.
Recalling Old Madam Fu’s gentle attitude towards Shen Jia, Mo Rao suddenly couldn’t imagine Fu Ying and Shen Jia together.
She closed her eyes, then opened them again.
She and Fu Ying had already ended their marriage. So who Fu Ying was with was none of her business.
Moreover, from Fu Ying’s attitude towards her, he wouldn’t get together with Shen Jia.
Even so, Mo Rao still discovered her true thoughts about this matter.
She didn’t know when it started, but she seemed to have started to pay attention to everything about Fu Ying once again, including his rumored partner.
Mo Rao shook her head to shake off these thoughts.
“What’s wrong? You’re standing here all alone in a daze.” Suddenly, Gu Ci’s gentle voice came from beside Mo Rao.
Mo Rao came back to her senses and looked up at the source of the voice. She saw Gu Ci standing in front of her in a suit while looking at her worriedly.
Mo Rao smiled. “It’s nothing. I’m just a little bored.”
After receiving Mo Rao’s answer, Gu Ci nodded in understanding, but his expression darkened.
He understood that with the expression on Mo Rao’s face, it wasn’t as simple as pure boredom.
“You came here alone?” Gu Ci leaned close to Mo Rao and asked softly.
Mo Rao shook her head. “No, he came with my brother. He just went to network.”
Gu Ci chuckled and leaned closer to Mo Rao. “Then I’ll accompany you! Being all alone, I’m quite bored too.”
“You’re alone? Don’t you need to socialize? Mr. Gu?” Mo Rao teased.
Gu Ci smiled at Mo Rao. “I really don’t have any social engagements, so can you accompany me for a while, President Mo?”
He said the words “President Mo” in a meaningful tone.
“On account that we’re good friends, I’ll ‘reluctantly’ accompany you.” Mo Rao couldn’t help but tease Gu Ci.
When he heard the words “good friend”, Gu Ci’s heart skipped a beat.
He didn’t want to just be good friends with Mo Rao.
Although he had an ulterior motive for getting close to Mo Rao, Gu Ci now realized that he yearned for much more than he had imagined.
Mo Rao and Gu Ci chatted happily. After Mo Yuan and the director finished talking, he looked around. When he realized that Mo Rao and Gu Ci were together, alarm bells went off in his head.
How much he liked Gu Ci before was how afraid he was of this man now.
Mo Yuan hurriedly walked towards Mo Rao. When Mo Rao saw Mo Yuan walking over from afar, she waved at him.
“Brother, how was the negotiation?” Mo Rao asked.
“Not bad,” Mo Yuan said as he took out a few business cards from the pocket of his suit.
