Other Plans
That night, Chen Wei’er and He Xun opened the sky roof and lay on the bed of the RV to watch the stars. The weather in the mountains was pleasant.
Chen Wei’er pointed at the twinkling stars in the sky.
“Do you see that star? It’s right beside the moon. It’s so beautiful!”
“It’s called the Companion of the Moon. It will always be beside the moon.” He Xun kissed Chen Wei’er’s hand.
“How romantic.” Chen Wei’er murmured, her eyes full of yearning.
“I will always be by your side,” He Xun replied. “No matter what happened. No matter if I’m in your heart or not…”
“Me too,” Chen Wei’er replied. “I will always be by your side, even if you have another woman in your heart…”
“Go to sleep.” He Xun turned off the lights. The two of them had been sitting in the car for the whole day, and their backs were aching badly.
Chen Wei’er also closed her eyes and buried herself in He Xun’s arms.
The next day, Chen Wei’er was woken up by the glaring sun above her head. She rubbed her eyes and looked at the stubble on He Xun’s chin. She carefully propped herself up and looked at He Xun’s sleeping face. There were faint dark circles under her husband’s eyes.
Chen Wei’er sighed. She lifted the blanket and carefully climbed out of bed, afraid that her movements would wake He Xun up. The bathroom in the RV was cramped, but it was enough for Chen Wei’er to wash up.
She only washed her face with clean water. It was not easy to come to such a fresh and pleasant mountain without fog, so she had to let her skin breathe.
After washing up, Chen Wei’er went to the kitchen and found that there were more than a dozen frozen lunch boxes in the refrigerator. She casually took out a lunch box, which contained a day’s amount for the two of them.
There was porridge, eggs, rice, and other dishes. It was obvious that Aunty Song had prepared them in advance…
Chen Wei’er slowly took out the breakfast and placed it in the microwave. Even the lunchbox could be microwaved. She turned on the appliances knob and waited for the breakfast to be heated.
‘Ding! Ding!’
The microwave rang. Chen Wei’er was just about to take out the food when she heard a rustling sound behind her. She turned around. He Xun had woken up.
“How was your sleep?” Chen Wei’er greeted him with a smile, put the dishes on the table, and poured a glass of milk for He Xun.
“The air here is so good.” He Xun felt really great for the first time after a night’s sleep.
Because He Xun usually stayed up too late when he first took over the company, he installed the most advanced fresh air conditioning unit in his office and at home a few years ago. As such, the air at home was fresh and clean.
The RV was originally equipped with a fresh air system, but the skylight was left open because they had to watch the stars yesterday.
He Xun was also exhausted and didn’t have the mood to close the windows for fresh air. He had thought that he would be uncomfortable when he woke up today, but he didn’t expect to feel so refreshed after waking up.
“I think so too! The air here is really great!” Chen Wei’er suggested, “Let’s go out today, shall we? Let’s get some fresh air!”
“Aren’t you guys working?” He Xun sat down at the small dining table, put the food that Chen Wei’er had heated into his mouth, and commented, “Frozen and heated food is indeed not as good as newly-made food.”
Chen Wei’er was speechless.
Did He Xun even need to say that? However, she didn’t mind. She sat down and began to eat.
“I don’t have much to do today. They’re going to choose a site, and there’s a professional designer there. They’ll just incorporate some of my ideas. I don’t need to be present.”
He Xun paused while holding the spoon. He looked at Chen Wei’er in disbelief. After all, if it was in the past, Chen Wei’er would have argued strongly and discussed it with the designers!
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Chen Wei’er glanced at He Xun.
He Xun’s expression looked as though he had just met her for the first time.
“I just find it a little unbelievable,” He Xun smiled. Don’t you always want to make full use of your rights and obligations?”
“I have thought it through now. A professional should do what he should do. I don’t know anything, so it’s fine as long as I don’t cause trouble for others!” Chen Wei’er shrugged her shoulders.
“Why did you still come here then?” He Xun didn’t understand. Since Chen Wei’er knew that she couldn’t be compared to a professional designer, then what was she doing here? Breathing in the fresh air?
“I’m here to do something special,” Chen Wei’er winked at He Xun mysteriously.
“What is it?” He Xun was really starting to get curious. He always felt that Chen Wei’er seemed to be getting more and more mysterious.
“I’m not telling you now!” Chen Wei’er put the last mouthful of congee with pork and century egg into her mouth and sighed with happiness.
“The human world is so beautiful! I feel full of energy again!”
