Yao Ran Was Acting Strange

Moreover, Yao Tang had a hard life in the countryside. Surely, whatever love she had received in her childhood was nothing compared to the dotage Yao Yuan and Qin Man bestowed on Yao Ran. It was only right for Yao Tang to be concerned.

However, she didn’t even flinch at Yao Ran’s words.

Instead, she slowly looked down and stared at Yao Ran’s foot, as if she was deliberating something. Then, her gaze shifted over to Meng Ling and stopped at the girl’s wrist.

“Not interested,” Yao Tang drawled.

She wasn’t even interested in much anything related to the Yao family, let alone the couple who claimed to be her biological parents.

Yao Ran was stunned.

‘What? She actually doesn’t want to know?’

Yao Ran had considered many possible reactions, but she didn’t expect Yao Tang to brush the matter off like this. Panic slowly crept into her heart.

What should she do now?

If Yao Tang and the others leave, then her plans would all go to waste.

“Come on, Sister Tang,” Yao Ran said urgently.

“We came here to have a meal, just like you guys. We didn’t expect something like this to happen, either. Can’t you just let this go, for my sake? Let’s have a meal together.”

If she let Yao Tang go now, she would be finished!

Meng Ling scowled in displeasure.

What did Yao Ran mean by saying to let the matter go? It was as good as an admission that they were the ones in the wrong!

Wasn’t this stupid girl supposed to be on their side?

“What the heck is wrong with you?” Meng Ling demanded angrily.

“If you came over to our house for dinner, we would have treated you to excellent food and drink. You’re the one who wanted to eat here, and my mother even had to make arrangements at the last minute. Why are you acting as if it’s our fault? If you want to eat with these bumpkins so much, then go do it yourself!”

She couldn’t understand why Yao Ran was acting this way all of a sudden.

Meng Ling had always known her to be a kind and understanding girl, but how could she speak up for others at a time like this? Was her brain not working properly?

Seeing that Meng Ling was agitated, Qin Man rushed forward and glared at Yao Tang. “Don’t be such an ungrateful brat. Ranran is already being generous, how dare you reject her good intentions? You really have no manners!”

And just like that, everything was Yao Tang’s fault once again.

How could she remain indifferent when Yao Ran had gone on a limb to resolve the issue?

Who gave her the right to refuse?

Her beloved Ranran was already being too generous by inviting them to share the private room.

“Come here, Ranran. Stay by Mom’s side.” Qin Man waved Yao Ran over and kept glaring at Yao Tang.

They couldn’t afford to anger the young lady of the Meng family any more than this, or Yao Ran’s ankle might never get cured.

Meng Ling had been pampered since her early years. If she took offense to anything, Madam Meng would be quick to do something about it.

If Yao Ran ended up as a cripple, Qin Man would have to tend to her for the rest of their lives. More importantly, she would be laughed at by the other ladies from her social circle.

She wouldn’t be able to bring Yao Ran outside then, or she would risk public mockery.

No, Qin Man refused to live that kind of life!

Yao Ran ignored her mother’s words and remained where she stood.

She had seen Qin Jing’s post on WeChat; she had known that they would be here.

She had especially orchestrated this encounter, all to meet Yao Tang.

There was no way Yao Ran would leave now.

If she went back to the hospital, she would have to endure more torture from those so-called experts. Just thinking about what she had to go through the previous day made her tremble.

Much like Qin Man, Yao Ran didn’t want to live through that kind of pain again.

Ironically enough, she thought that Yao Tang might be able to help her. After all, the latter was already a member of the Music Association, and had more connections and influence than anyone had previously thought.

At the very least, Yao Tang might find a way.

Yao Ran bit her lips, her hands clenching into fists at her sides. She wasn’t keen on asking Yao Tang for help, of course, but she didn’t have any other choice.

If she let this chance go, she had a nagging sense that she would die in that hospital.

She drew closer to Yao Tang, as if she hadn’t heard a thing Qin Man had said. “Let’s have dinner together, okay? It’s my treat. Take it as my apology. Come on, I won’t be at ease until you say yes.”

Her tone was very sincere this time, devoid of her usual veiled sarcasm.

Even the eager expression on her face appeared genuine.

Qin Jing was taken aback, and she exchanged a baffled glance with Lin Xin. Not once had they imagined that they would see Yao Ran like this.
