Fired

This wasn’t even the worst ruckus that had occurred at the restaurant, yet the manager had turned his back on him without a second thought.

The waiter’s words only served to flame Manager Dong’s fury. He raised his hand and slapped the other man again.

Pa!

The cracking sound of skin hitting skin rang out in the hall.

The waiter gaped at Manager Dong in disbelief. He would have let it go if it was all an act they put on for other people, but it was another thing for the man to hit him in private.

He was young and talented, and many other restaurants would be happy to take him as their employee.

And yet, she had stuck with Manager Dong and the Chunlai Hotel all these years. The two of them were bonded, and Manager Dong often vented his frustrations about his wife to him.

He was therefore shocked that the man he had considered a comrade would slap him, not once, but twice in a single day.

The waiter bristled in outrage. If it hadn’t been for Manager Dong’s favoritism toward him, he would have left the old man a long time ago.

“How dare you strike me again? I’m going to destroy you, you bastard. I’ll tell your hag of a wife everything you’ve been keeping from her!”

At this point, the waiter couldn’t care less about his image and lunged at Manager Dong.

His fist was poised to land a blow at the other man’s face.

Manager Dong was equally shocked by his friend’s sudden ferocity. Unfortunately for him, he wasn’t able to dodge in time and ended up suffering three punches.

“Argh! You crazy moron!”

Manager Dong managed to fling the waiter away and yelled for the guards. “Security! Security, come here quickly!”

The burly men from earlier immediately rushed over and broke the fighting pair apart.

“Hurry and drag this lunatic out of the premises!”

Manager Dong was heaving from exertion, but he never lost his pompous attitude.

Before he knew what was happening, a few guards were looming over him.

They grabbed both of his arms and hoisted him up, carrying him in a procession to the hotel’s side entrance.

Manager Dong craned his neck and saw that the waiter was also being carried by the guards behind him.

“What are you guys doing? He’s the one you need to dispatch! Why are you taking me away, too? I’m the manager here! It’s me, Manager Dong! What the hell, don’t you guys recognize me or something?”

Manager Dong yelled and flailed, but the guards did not relinquish their hold.

They didn’t even spare the two men a glance as they bodily removed them from the floor.

They positioned themselves at the doorway, counted to three, then literally tossed Manager Dong and the waiter out on the pavement.

“You don’t work here anymore,” the head of security said as he stood at the door with his arms akimbo. “Both of you are fired.”

Boom!

The two men barely had time to process what they were hearing when the heavy door shut in their faces.

…..

Qin Jing and the others walked out of the Chunlai Hotel, with Yao Ran bringing up the rear. Sure enough, a valet brought out a modified van and held out the keys to them.

Yao Ran glanced at her friends and said, “I have something to discuss with Yao Ran. We’ll sit in front.”

With that, she grabbed the keys and plopped on the driver’s seat before anyone could utter a word.

Yao Ran smiled and promptly seated herself on the passenger side.

A soundproof partition separated them from the back seat. They could speak freely without fear of the others eavesdropping on their conversation.

Everyone began to get into the vehicle.

Ma Chao chose to sit in the last row at the back, afraid to provoke anyone.

These people might be younger than him, but he knew he couldn’t afford to offend a single one of them.

What he found surprising, though, was that the van appeared to belong to the girl called Yao Tang. She seemed used to handling its engine, which was decidedly strange for someone of her age.

Cheng Yan was among the last to get in, and he sat in the second row with Qin Rui.

This was even more surprising to Ma Chao. He didn’t expect these two young masters to get into the van so readily.

Modified vehicles weren’t exactly comfortable. Under normal circumstances, these pampered young men should detest this mode of transportation.

Besides, people of Young Master Cheng and Young Master Qin’s status had no business taking such a vehicle anywhere.

Ma Chao found himself getting more curious about Yao Tang’s identity. He made a mental note to be more careful around her and hiked up her position in his regard.

Once they were set to leave, he took out his phone and sent a message to the owner of the private restaurant.

He typed furiously on his screen, his brows furrowed in concentration.

“Make sure you take advantage of this opportunity. If you make a good impression on these people, you will no longer worry about the Chunlai Hotel. They might not even count as your rival anymore. Remember to tell your service staff to be smart and mindful. Tell them not to do anything to spoil the mood of our distinguished guests! No matter what, you shouldn’t mess this up!” ??
